trash picking

Question: It is common practice in our area for people to dump unwanted furniture, toys, etc., on their curb for anyone to take. Are you comfortable taking someone elses' junk to use in your home? They say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." Does this hold true for you?

I have never been in a position, meaning have the room and man power to take what I find and need...I use freecycle, then I can send Tom :) I do have a friend who did it all the time and painted everything and had some AWESOME pieces...I like clearances too :)

that's why God gave us craigslist... so the curb could have a break!

Totally! Free stuff! I have lived in places like that for 8 years now....people leaving stuff out. I guess its better than throwing it out if someone else could use it.

Once Becca was spotted by a neighbor rescuing a couple of chairs. They invited us to then take a couple of pieces from their beautiful spare bedroom set, which they couldn't bring themselves to put out on the curb.

People don't like throwing things out. They are generally happy when someone can make use of their cast-offs.

I am all for taking stuff out of people's garbage. We have gotten some good stuff, mostly outdoor kid toys that they grow out of too quickly to buy new. We also just found Andrew a bike, he didn't care where it came from.
